We have dial-up at home and plans to move at high speed, but have said that we have a 10-Base-T Ethernet network interface card (NIC). How will we know whether your computer already has?

Most new computers today already have a network interface in the motherboard.
Look at the back of the computer over a network connection. It looks like a phone just a little wider.
If so, then your loan. If not, are relatively cheap to buy at any store that sells PC accessories. (NIC for a PCI slot)
